Suicide Prevention

In February of 2018, Rice County Coalition hosted an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) through a partnership with the Kansas Suicide Prevention Center and Sterling College.
This training equips participants with the ability to not just identify warning signs, but to intervene in the life of someone in crisis.
A few Rice County residents traveled to other areas to receive this training previously. Below is a list of those persons who are currently trained within Rice County and their contact information.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of our trained community partners:

IT MATTERS
Through a prevention grant, Rice County was able to utilize the It Matters marketing campaign materials. This allowed the coalition to work on the installation of signage around the county, digital media, radio, and newspaper advertising. The marketing campaign highlights the Suicide Prevention Hotline number as well as messages letting persons know they are not alone.
By letting local persons know that there are mental health services available, as well as help for other aspects of their lives, the coalition hopes to decrease the number of persons in Rice County who have suicidal thoughts, plans, or attempts.
